Nice moment, well captured, with nice colours and lovely BG. The moody tones on the buterflies are elegant. I would try with shadow and highlights to lower a bit the stronger lights at the beautiful BG, but as always a question of taste.

I had some break in writing comments to your picture but now is the weekend so a little more time to do it :)
This is another very good presentation. In every single case I can learn a lot about the butterfly species which is presented by you.
And now a few words about this picture ;>
Here we have a good quality photo with good details, nice POV and DOF. I like also the BG wich allow to better expose the specimens "in copula".
The only thing which I would like to change are some white reflections on the top of flower.
Anyway, another interesting presentation!

Hello Peter,
Have you started on a series of Maniola now? No, I'm joking.
The female Meadow Brown in this fine sharp shot is unusually colourful, with lovely shades of rusty red. They have much plainer undersides in Sweden. Nice blurred meadow BG that just allows us to see that you have not rotated the shot to give the fine diagonal comp of the flower stalk.
Very fine summer shot!

The synergy between these two is quite manifest in the shapely formation they have adopted holding on to the same branch, Peter.

J'aime beaucoup la compostion de ta photo, avec un arrière plan très discret, mais qui offre une ligne d'horizon, et quelques taches de lumière jaune qui matèrialisent un ecocystème de prairie. La prise de vue sur ce coupe de papillon est parfaite, avec un plan de netteté qui englobe les deux papillons, y compris les antennes et les pattes. Le tout avec une parfaite maîtrise de la lumière, bravo.

Another SPLENDID post from you, my friend!
This is really a wonderful macro!
I love the contrast with the BG here a lot and the very carefull and precise balance between the shadows and highlights here. Although the butterflies have a backlight, they are still presented with great sharpness and superb colors. I also like the tones of the BG, too.
The conposition is again great and i realyl liked the WS picture...i didn't know which was the difference between the males and females of this species...so again a very aducational post! :)

Otra excelente y pedagógica entrega amigo mío no sólo por la imagen original sino también por el workshop y tus siempre interesantes notas.
Gran captura mostrando este apareamiento dentro de una bella composición técnicamente y estéticamente muy apropiada.
El agradable efecto de luz permite apreciar las texturas de las mariposa y su percha con total claridad.
El acotado DOF permite el foco adecuado y a la vez una gran difusión del trasfondo que colabora con la estética de la presentación.

Another excellent and pedagogic post my friend not only for the original image but also for the workshop and your always interesting notes.
Great capture showing this mating inside a beautiful composition technically and aesthetically very appropriate.
The pleasant light effect allows to appreciate the textures of the butterfly and its hanger with total clarity.
Enclosed DOF allows the fitting focus and at the same time a great diffusion of the background that collaborates with the aesthetics of the presentation.

Hello Peter,

Absolutely stunning capture of two beautiful butterflies sharing intimate moments! The composition is very efficient with the two subjects showing us their profile against a beautiful blurred background. The blurred yellow flower in the background adds a touch of color to your shot!
Exposure is seamless as usual and the soft tangent light rendered great textures in the butterflies' wings. I know you don't use fill flash and am still amazed by the excellent exposure of the details in the shadows, even if you used the fill flash tool.
The excellent brown hues in the wings make a nice contrast with the bright green background thus drawing attention to the subjects. They are very well isolated from everything else. The perspective is enhanced by the distant spot of blue sky in the background. Outstanding work of art! And technically perfect! Very well done with very useful notes! Thank you!
