Adult females are distinctly barred throughout, and have from four to six tail bands. Immatures are very heavily barred throughout, and dark spotting may codominate or dominate the overall plumage. Intensity of dark spotting varies with the sex of the immatures, females being the darkest. Juveniles are uniformly brown with scattered white tips of down.

You can't go wrong with the eyes of a snowy owl! Amazing details, outstanding colors, and exceptional exposure. Excellent note.

Excellent clarity of this pretty bird. Nice framing there too.
Best wishes,

What a face that bird is pulling at *U*! What did *U* say John?

I find this very "marked" pattern in the feathers is great.
Nits: the cut-off toes; and the slanted stones give one a feeling of unease. Luckily you were able to keep the "zoo view" to a minimum. If the original allows it I would rather opt for a portrait ...

So long my friend, J.

Hello John,
A well composed and well controlled close-up shot of Snow Owl with spot on focus, vivid details and rich saturated colours.
TFS and regards.

Hi John.
You have create a very nice owl picture. Its pose is so impressive and reproduction of all its features (especially feathers and glance) are very good. Shot is well exposed, coloured and sharpened. Only I think it would be better to show owl clams wholly. In any case great shot and my best wishes. TFS.

Hello John

A very good shot of this snowy owl.The details in the plumage are very good. The DOF and POV are very well handled. The colour saturation is very good.Wonderful eye contact.TFS

John, it looks like I'm joining an already very affirming chorus here, but I'm happy to do so. The color and sharpness are wonderful, and this is a fine macro. I don't think you could've done better if you had asked this owl to pose for you. You might not have done better apart from the services of a taxidermist -- and that, of course, is not what we're about. I'd crop a bit more off the top and spare the poor fellow the rest of his front claw, should your image allow it. But that's about the only improvement that comes immediately to mind. Nice work!

Hi John,

A nice image of the snow owl, the photo has a good composition, sharpness and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

Hi John,
Fantastic shot, sharp as razor and colours are excellent. What else can be said besides I bookmark this photo as one of my faves? Regards from Hungary, László

Hallo John,

Hi John,
uaoooooo!!! Excellent photo!! Outstanding POV, color, exposure and detail. Very well captured.

Hello John
Great shot of a beautiful subject.
Those yellow eyes are mesmerising.

Hallo John
Every time I see one of these owls the eyes fascinate me time and time again. This one is no exception. Very well composed. Great details and warm colours. The classic hypnotic eyes with this photo makes this portrait even more dramatic. This guy seems as he was just posing for you and your camera. Standing up straight, having a good time with the lens. I can't find anything wrong with it. Thanks for sharing. Great post of this furry guy.
Kind regards

Hello John,

Hi John
Nice to meet you here too.
The bird symbol of my province,Quebec.
You have taken a good view of the bird, it looks healthy.
Great eyes, they have a very keen sight, even in the day.

I had the chance to see a snowy owl in the wild this winter.I came back the next day with mices and was able to entice it to fly where I wanted him to go.You can see three of these pictures in TN and one on TE.

I tried to repeat this, but could not find one again, so I will be on the lookoout next year.

Have a good week

Hi John,

Hello John,
Hope you'll be doing fine friend. Nice to meet you, the pleasure is all mine. I have come looking for your photo after reading your comments on my photo and found this wonderful shot of this snowy owl in captivity. The bird is quite healthy and seems better looked after. Despite a zoo specimen, it looks great and has a fine plumage. The sharp focus shows the beautiful yellow eyes of the bird which sort of seem to speak to us. Thanks a lot for sharing this fantastic shot which has all the merits of a good photo. And thanks also for your comments to my photos, sir....take care..warmest regards/Abid
