Grand Pearl is a large butterfly with brown wings above bright orange marked with black.
The edge of the forewing is slightly concave, which can afford to differentiate the Little Pearl (Argynnis adippe) and Sales (Argynnis niobe), the edge of the forewing is straight or convex.
The distinction between these species is mainly by examining the underside of the hindwing:
The underside of the hind wing of the Grand Pearl is greenish with a row of pearly spots and to the edge, a broad yellow band without dot.
The female is slightly lighter in color.
The Fritillary caterpillar overwinters.

Hello John,
Beautiful butterfly again.Nice composition with good depth of color.Sharpness of left side wings are better than right side wings.Green BG is helping to concentrate on the subject.

It's pity that not detail note is added about this beautiful specie.
Thanks for sharing,
Kind regards,
