This little spider tried to impress me and scare me off.

Thanks for all the replies. So it is a Xysticus, probably specie cristatus.

Hi Hans, as far as I can tell and to th ebest of my knowledge this is very likely as you say of the Genus Xysticus, the most common species in UK is X. cristatus. However I'd like to see more to give you a good answer. It's a lovley shot and a classic pose, try and get a male...they are a little less aggresive toward the camera and much more run-for-cover!

Great shot.

Really quite outstanding. Beautiful color, sharpness, and a remarkable intimacy. Very well done all around.

Very good macro Hans. a ggod pose and great details with fine and clean background.
Good composed too.
Very well done.

Lovely shot, and a great POV - so typical!
Xysticus I believe it is, but the pose does not show much of the revealing details. I'd say X. erraticus as a best guess.
Great job.

Hmm, think it would have succeeded in its attempt at scaring the intruder off if it had been me it was facing ;). Wonderful DOF and exposure, fantastic POV and your composition is faultless. It is an excellent capture Hans, you should be very proud of it. Thanks for posting it :)
