[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |

Excellent capture.
Un beau jour,
Adrian
Hi Brigitte,
Nice photo I like the colours and POV. I belive you are right with your ID these been Hygrocybes conica
Hello Brigitte,
excellent capture, sharp details, nice red and beautifull background,
regards,
Nikos.
Bonjour Brigitte,
Your ID specification (and Clive's) was right: this is either Hygrocybe conica or H. nigrescens (the difference's only microscopical), quite common on fields (both in lowlands or in the mountains) where animals like cows, sheeps, horses etc. don't live, because animal manure is chemically very unfavourable to each Hygrocybe species. Sometimes one dropping's enough to kill these fungi on the whole field for (no joke!) at least 40 years.
Photographically: not a bad photo, colors are good, but if You photograph small field fungi, You have to make "gardening" to avoid out-of-focus grass-blades and other disturbing elements. Don't be afraid of using a scissor (before making the shot): there's one in my photo bag, too, and I got the idea from another TN-member. :)
Best regards from Hungary, László
