Description
De la même famille que les cigognes, les hérons cendrés se caractérisent par un long cou, un bec long et pointu et de hautes pattes. Le héron cendré possède une excellente vue panoramique latérale et une très bonne vision binoculaire frontale. Son ouïe, également très développée, le fait réagir aux moindres bruits suspects. Le héron cendré atteint en général 95 cm de hauteur et une envergure de 1,85 m pour un poids de 1,5 à 2 kg.

Le héron cendré présente un plumage à dominante grise. Les jeunes ont un plumage plus terne : leur dos est gris-brunâtre, leur cou est gris et leur ventre est blanc rayé noir. Ils n'ont pas de "huppe". Les jeunes hérons acquièrent leur plumage d'adulte à l'âge de deux ans. Le héron cendré peut vivre 25 ans. Mais des hérons n'atteignent même pas un an.

Hi Vandael.
Amazing reproduction of the fine bird. Terrific details and sharpness. Every feather and other part of the heron, their colouratuin are reflected precisely. I also like pictorial surroundings and level of its details. Exposure of the shot is spot on and soft lighting is very pleasant. It is a pity a bit that part of the paw is cut in the bottom of the frame. However, it is top quality shot. My compliments and TFS.

Hi Vandael. This Herron looks like it posed just for you. You must have got close with your 200 mm lens. Whichhas given fine detail and natural colours. I like the one leg pose. well done TFS.
