I photographed it on a birch tree grown on a heap (heap of Bois du Casier).
It may reflect the mimicry, meets the Butterfly
with birch (passive defense system).

I think, it is a Biston betulariais... instead it is a geometrid moth called Boarmia (Serraca) punctinalis or Hypomecis punctinalis!!!
I have made a mistake!!!! Thanks Ivan...once again!!

But it is also a geometer moth :)

The geometer moths or Geometridae are a family of the order Lepidoptera. A very large family, it has around 26,000 species of moths described (over 300 of which occur in the British Isles, and over 1,200 species indigenous to North America). A well-known member is the Peppered Moth, Biston betularia, which has been subject of numerous studies in population genetics. Several other geometer moths are rather notorious pests.

Good day

This is a briliant demonstration of the camouflage system aminals adopt for self-defence, Brigitte.
The Moth is almsot totally assimilated into the BG of the bark of a birch tree.
The image is quite sharp and full of details.
Your wide frame is quite imaginative.
TFS and all the best.

Bonjour Brigitte,
Though you written a fine note about the famous Peppered Moth, this is instead a geometrid moth called Boarmia (Serraca) punctinalis, well captured on the birch tree trunk with fine sharpness and lighting.
Thanks and enjoy your Sunday,

Hello Brigitte,
Very nice photos of the butterfly model.
But one I wanted to see after editing. Photo for the white balance, back light and contrast balance of + 50% construction.
I hope you like it.

Hi Brigitte.
You have pictured this cute moth at very attractive scenery – covered by moss big trunk. Exactness of reproduction is great however, exposure and tone balance are seem on my monitor very well. I have tried to play with some FS tools (see WS). My kind regards and TFS.

Bonita captura Brigitte, con unas tonalidades encantadoras y además un trabajo bien presentado.

Hy Brigitte
I never saw this moth, well knonw from the evoliutionary courses. This one seems not very well camouflatedon this trunk. Good notes also.
Regards, Oana

bonjour Brigitte
Les insectes ont l'art de se camoufler, cette moth s'adapte extraordinairement à l'écorce de ce bouleau, il fallait de bons yeux pour le découvrir
Très belle pose toutes ailes déployées avec de beaux details
Passe une bonne soirée

ciao briGitte!
a moth, that is difficult to manage for the ability to camouflage with the environment .. brava for this capture!!!

greetings sERGIO
