The antenna from this Adeka sort are much longer then by the most moths, but it can alway longer, just as by people. The Nematopogon moth is shining a little but is not so beautiful as the Adela moth. The Adela is a spring moth. The males have long, whitish antennae, the females shorter, both sexes having bronzy or metallic greenish forewings. The moths fly in the daytime during May and June, sometimes occurring in swarms. The larva lives in a flat bivalved case, and feeds on dead leaves, especially Quercus and Betula. Pupation inside the case. The young larva The adults fly from mid April till the beginning of June. Male moths are active in sunshine, and swarm around the tops of trees and bushes, while females stay in the undergrowth.

This shot I took in the beautiful Ardennes. This phote was taken from a distance from 10 cm. I hope you like the shot.

This flower had to be very tasty ;-)
Very interesting photo. The moths look like snips of some glittered fabric. The composition is nice. Some of the moths are a bit out of focus but I understand that it wasn't easy to "catch" them all.
I like the colours though maybe lily and green doesn't match very well.
Well done and thanks for posting.

Very good shot, it would have been maybe better to use a lower speed to get more details.
TFS.

It's a real pleasure to have you back...
A great macro with wonderful colours, efficient DOF and sharp details.
Thanks Jaap.

Unusual shot Jaap and very eye catching. The colour and texture on the moths is very nice, accurate DOF. Good post.

Groeten, John.

Yes, a orgy of beautiful subjects is a beautiful flower. I like ti very much Jaap. You did very well F2.3 gave you a good DOF, but maybe a bit higher value would be better.
I enjoyed this one!

It almost looks like they are searching for someone's contact lens :)

This is a beautiful capture and I like the colors here a lot. The sharpness and DOF is excellent.

Very well done and thanks for posting

I think this flower has done really well to attract so many customers, it will surely be pollinated in the process.
An interesting image with so many drinkers at the tavern. Well domposed and enough detail to make it a very worthy contribution to TN.

This is a most stunning composition, of all these insects with their irridescent wings crowding around the flower, The colors are gorgeous. Very well-done, Jaap.

Amazing shot Jaap a real beauty ! colour and texture on the moths is very nice, dof & sharpness are perfect, great composition!

Well done!

Regards,
Christian

A fantastic photo, beautiful colours of the moths complement the flowe perfectly. DOD just a tiny bit short, but no problem. Composition perfect.

Wow, so many pretty insects with metallic-look.
Sharpness is perfect, I can see so many details. One of them has different antennae, looking like a comb - don't laugh, I have too much phantasie!
Thanks for showing, bye

Hello Jaap, the moths in your excellent photo look like emerald jewels with wings. Beautiful colors and composition. TFS!

I've to correct your identification. it's NOT Adelidae specie. The picture present moths from family Zygaenidae called Forester.
It's rather common but I've never seen so many moths on one flower ;-)
