[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A number of natural variations have been observed in the lion populations. Some of these have been encouraged by captive breeding.

Although rare, white lions are occasionally encountered in Timbavati, South Africa. Their unusual color is due to a recessive gene. A white lion has a disadvantage when it comes to hunting: it can be given away by its color, unlike the regular lion which blends in with its surroundings. White lions are born almost pure white without the normal camouflaging spots seen in lion cubs. Their colour gradually darkens to cream or ivory colour (known as blonde).

Hi Annick

Excellent timing. Was this a yawn or roar? If it is like the white lion, Gandor, we have at Zion Wildlife Park, it will be a yawn. Lovely shot of a special lion. Thank you! :-)

Hola Annick,

Espectacular y arriesgado primer plano, buena luz y definición. Saludos

Terrific capture, Annick!
The POV and timing here are simply magnificent! Those teeth are superbly captured and the focus here is great on them.
Also the DOF is great and the the exposure excellent.
The colors are...unique (obviously) but the contrast with the BG is very good.
Great work again!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Annick,
A nice image , the lighting is really lovely giving the mane a very soft & silky appearence as if the lion has been regularly using one of those fancy shampoos.

Nice catch, Annick! Real sharp and detailed.

Annick,
Another GREAT image of the WILD WILD.
Congratulations,
Mario with friendly greetings.
