|Stara planina is considered to be the most treacherous mountain in Bulgaria. The morning could be sunny, there would be no clouds at all but at noon fog starts creeping up the ridges and pass through the slopes from the north to the south or vice versa. The clouds spread over and the rain is close, the wind is blowing heavily. And you're lucky if it happens to you in the summer... |
And there's no wonder that in the past times while Bulgarians had no independent state that the strongest patriotic men went and hid there into the deepest forests where the Turkish militia wouldn't find them.
Nowadays there are marked paths through the forest but yet sometimes one can get lost quite easily - there in the darkness.
