After 6 days with landscapes from the Balkan Peninsula I think it is time to present some creatures living in these habitats ;>

Here on the photo there is an adult individual of Lacerta oxycephala Duméril et Bibron, 1839 - Sharp-snouted Rock Lizard , member of family Lacertidae and one of 10 species of this genus known from Europe (for details about other 9 species please see www.herp.it).

The distribution of this reptile is restricted to rather small area of mainy Ardiatic Sea Coast from Croatia through Bosnia to Skadar Lake region on Montenegrian-Albanian borded.
In Montengro I observed this species in two national parks only: in Tara NP and Skadar Lake NP.

What is unusual in this species is its blue colour which sometimes can be also very dark. Thanks to the colouration it can be easy recognized in the field.
It inhabits mainly rocky areas where among stones it spends day time hunting for some insects.

Sometimes, like specimen from this photo, it can be observed even it the centre of big city – here on the fortified walls in the really fantastic old town of Dubrovnik.

I hope that you will like it :>

Hi Radomir

This is a splendid photo of a rather rare species on TN.
I really love the pattern on its back and tail...the colors of the scales really draw a lovely modelle.
Further more, i like the pose you captured it in and the nice shadow it casts on the rock.
A splendid composition and presentation!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Radomir,
Excellent capture of this beautiful rare blue lizard in a very nice pose. Very sharp and the beautifully patterned lizard stands out very well against the rocky background. I like your frame too.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Radomir,
This is the kind of lizard shot I like to see: you have all of it, including the tail, the composition is just right, it is sharp and it shows a colourful and unusual species.
Well done and TFS!
best wishes, Ivan
