Hi friends,

This is another shot from my latest trip to Croatia.
Again one from one of my favorite shooting ground for seascapes - this natural rocky beach.

I took many different shots from this place, trying various horizontal and vertical compositions, but also different settings (especially in shutter speed).

This particular one was taken with the Coking P121S grad filter, to try and minimize the difference of light between the sky and the FG. The ricks near me were very dark but with the right twist of the polarizer, you could get a photo that showed details from below the water surface. I hope i succeeded in doing that...even partially.

Hope you'll like it and thanks for looking :)

Hi Mate,
i think you did well here. Well chosen POV with good detail and excellent DOF, as always. As far as the details underneath the water in the FG goes, with the sun where it is in the sky, i'm not sure you were ever going to get as much as possible, even with that skillful use of the grad you have shown. It's a very tricky shot to expose evenly for, and you did well to get what you did.
I do like the overall ambience and feel though, it's a great shot and an interesting one too.

A very well composed pic with the horizon more than half way up the frame. The DOF and detail you show throughout the pic is great. The POV, clarity and sharpness of the image are also very good. The light has also been well controlled.

Hi Horia,

I like how you frame this shot. Excellent POV and DOF.Consider the exposure and time, the sharpness is very good.TFS.

Hello Horia.
Simply sensational! Wonderful seascape!

Photo worthy of postcard!

Hi Horia!

Looks like you captured many beautifull seascapes in Croatia. It isn't very surprising - this country has got lots of beauty to show. I like todays picture very much - vertical frame, calm water [yes, I know that every water should be calm with 15 sec exposure time :-)], beautifull colours of sky. Looks like holiday dream.

Are the slovakian approach eh Horia...almost a goth look at the image...in the darkness there is mystery...must be in the genes Horia:-) You did well, very well with low contrast and turned it around to your advantage..I can see plainly! I can almost feel as though I were there..

Nicely composed... good proportion between the foreground and background.

Beautiful, Horia, a pro-shot with beauty and fantastic colours. The perspective leads the eye to the sunsetting, superb work! thanks,

Hi Horia

A beautiful composition - great use of fading light and low shutter speed.

Hi Horia!
It looks that you were in field till late evening hours :) Very nice capture of seaside with deep DOF which allow to see some moutains (cliffs?) in the background :)
I nice warm colours of sunset and contrast between sea and land :)
TFS and have a nice weekend my Friend!
Greetings from cloudy and rather cold (some 15C) Lodz,

PS. MANY THANKS for pictures of Cicindela habitat! I must say that place from your picture looks totaly different when we compare it with typical habitats for this species from central Europe. Really interesting photos!!! :)

Hi Horia,
great shot of this beautiful scene!
I love the composition.
Great use of the P121S and polariser (I reckon they need to make a P121 SuperDark) :-)
Excellent exposure.
Great DOF.

Well done,

Hello Horia, Very nice shot and good landscape. Excellent composition and well presented. Ganesh

Hi Horia,
The result is great. I already like the effect on your previous photo, but here the effect of the CP became even better. The slow shutter and wave action makes it almost impossible to see what is above or below the waterline. The texture of the rock is most wonderful. The addition of the warm yellow color makes the photo perfect.

Hello Horia,
Very beautiful view of this rocky coastline. Excellent DOF and wonderful colours of the sky and the water.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Horia,
Well composed. Good depth in the photo; I like that zig-zag thing.
You were talking about getting detail in the surface; I think you also have to take into account the shutter speed. 15 seconds is a long time, I guess the water moved a lot in that time range.
But I think the polarizer effect is definitely there.
Well done

Hi horia. This is a really great scene, and you have done well to capture as much detail in the foreground as you have. I particularly like the sky, with its beautiful soft lemon coloured light nicely diffusing into that pastel blue colour that almost matches the hills in the background.

Ps i really like your web site! especially the panoramas.
