Hello.
Today I am sending a photo of this common dragonfly. I taken him to the edge of the forest near my house.
Thank you all for your visit and criticism - this is useful for me. Points (smiling) are not important for me :-)

Broad-bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa)
Czech name: Vážka ploská

The Broad-bodied Chaser measures 39-48 mm. The wingspan is 70-80 mm. The body is slender, his head high and moving. The chest is strong and sloping back, stands on his head a couple of big eyes, mouthparts is teething. Based on hind wings we see a large black-brown spots. For both sexes is quite distinct sexual dichroism (ie the possibility of different colored male and female). Males, especially older ones, are colored in blue, while females are colored brown. The tail is flattened with yellow spots on the sides.
Conspicuous their compound eyes, which can be made up of many thousands small eyes (ommatidia). They also developed three parietal eyes (ocelli).
Adult dragonflies can be seen from May to mid-August, autumn image die. Prior to lose their color.
Is extended throughout Europe except northern Scandinavia and Britain, as in Western Asia and the Middle East. The Czech Republic is common everywhere.
