Young butterfly, about 1-2hours.

The Apollo or Mountain Apollo (Parnassius apollo), is a butterfly of the Papilionidae family. It is found on mountains in Europe usually above 1000m up to 2000m, preferring flowery meadows and mountain pastures. This species is of interest to entomologists due to the variety of subspecies, often only restricted to a specific valley in the alps. Related species can be found all over the world. The caterpillar's favorite food plant is Stonecrop.

Hello Martin,
A fine sharp closed-wing capture of an Apollo, one of my favourite butterflies The composition and lighting against the neutral OOF quarry BG are excellent to make this a fine portrait of the species.
Thank you for sharing this beauty,
Best regards,
Ivan

beautiful pic, great composition and natural light, TFS Ori

Una macro con el color y nitidez para apreciar al insecto,el fondo bien lejano desde lo visual, le da un dimension mayor al sujeto

Hi Martin
Excellent macro of a very pretty butterfly. Very sharp detail and good use of flash.
Kind Regards
Vinny

A perfect lateral capture of a newly emerged individual with bright, lively colours Martin, the neutral BG finely accentuates the sharply displayed morphology of the b.fly. Good job indeed!

Hello martin,

You have made a very good close-up of this rare butterfly. The pose of the butterfly is very good displaying the beautiful colors. There is a fine match between the background and the colors of the wings.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hi Martin

Another stunning and very beautiful capture from you!
This Mountain Apollo is indeed a superb species and you managed to show it so well here - from this side POV.
I really like the very accurate DOF that you've selected here - just enough to keep the butterfly in full focus, but shallow enough to blur anything else.
The colors are vibrant (especially that red ring) and the textures are impeccable, too.

Bravo and TFS
Horia
