I needed to see some blue sky, and as our weather here's not been the least bit obliging lately, I had to dig some out of my old files. I found this little lady which I came across one October morning - on one of the few decent October days we had last year. And there weren't too many of those, either. Little Miss was cleaning her bill after eating something she'd dug out of the branch, but she did take the time to give me a quick glance ;-))
House sparrow Passer domesticus.
Male house sparrow has a brown back and light brown chest. The top of his head (crown) is grey and he is black beneath the bill (bip). Cheeks are white. The female is brown.
House sparrow used to be one of the most common birds in Denmark. They are still here in great numbers, but you don't find as many as before.
House sparrows live close to human habitation, both in the country and in towns.
The house sparrow ressembles the tree sparrow fairly closely, but can be distinguished by the fact that the house sparrow has a grey crown, whereas the tree sparrow has a nutbrown crown. Additionally, the tree sparrow has black spots on his cheeks. The house sparrow is slightly bigger than tree sparrow.

Great to see another image from you Bente , you have the perect partener for Gert's little cock sparrow across the water from you. she is beautifully seen. the only thing I would be tempted to do would be to clone out the very OOF twig to the left of her face, it should be possible to do the blue bit above and below the branch she sits on and the where it crosses the branch too the rest doesnt matter its just that bit that distracts from her face.
But this is such a minor nit that it does'nt really matter. TFS

Very nice image Bente. Good DOF and POV. Well done

Great shot Bente.
You too , I also post a house sparrow today.
Great pose, composition and good details and colours.
Very well done.

I tried the frying pan method for ducks but I did not succeed.;-)

Wish I could send you some blue light, Bente!
As for this LBj, she is beautiful! Lovely picture.
Gert should use orange marinade in the pan, apparently, it draws the DD in!

This is a wonderful shot Bente! I like the setting and composition here a lot. The image has good sharpness and DOF as well.

Excellent work and thanks for posting

Bente, although we did have some blue sky around here our Atalntic climate always keeps the "high fog" making it grey or white in all the shots :-(
You got a nice pic of this little fellow. We still have a lot of them here, maybe is our most common bird. Thanks.

Oh yes, she is really cute. Great dof and colours. I agree with Robert about the twig. I too wish we could have some sun and/or frost instead of this grey and wet weather.

Good shot Bente, a cute little chap, well caught. Sharp, good texture and details. Good background and excellent note.

Tack sharp and such a nice pose. A shot like this makes the common LBJ look exceptional. Great shot Bente.

I like House sparrows, Bente and you 'freezed'(a winter word) this female very well. A not easy to focus on it with those branchs around.
LBJ? Sorry, is this swedish? ;-) I speak french, not used with those acronyms.
A great post: an excellent image with a note not less excelent.
