I come today propose to you a construction of a shelter for the Insects. I discovered in a review: The four Seasons of the Garden, N°149 ,p39-41, 2004, an article concerning this “Insects house” whose construction takes as a starting point the work of Helga Sache and Antoine Bosse-Platiére. The photography and the letter inside, indicate the location of the bugs waited, this list is not exhaustive!! I think that the nesting of the insects for their reproduction is planned for the beginning of the beautiful days, when heat will be back!!
a. For the Chrysopidae: a red box filled of fibers of packing, with some openings in slit.
b. For the bumblebees: a box with a hole 10 mm in diameter and a small board of take-off.
c. For certain bees and solitary wasps like the Megachilidae: the plait of reed or equisetum rolled up.
d. For the solitary bees, used hollow bricks filled with a mixture clay and straw.
e. For various Hymenoptera and Syrphidae: stems with marrow (bramble, rose tree, raspberry cane, elder tree, buddleia).
f. For the xylophagous insects: old wood piled up.
g. For certain bees and solitary wasps, like Osmia cornuta, (Apidae) drywood with holes.
h. For the Forficula: a pot of flowers filled with wood fibres.
i. For Carabidae: pieces of branches.
Your hotel will be able to open its doors, just in time to accomodate layings and larvae of certain insects. It will contribute to enrich with the passing of years to it micro fauna by auxiliary insects and pollinations of your corner of paradise! |
