Stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus) standing in a forest on a slope of Grand Ballon. It is visited by a number of flies because it smells like a carcass.

Very interesting capture of this disgusting fungus Roland.
I've never seen so many flies on a stinkhorn before.
Nicely composed with good exposure.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Roland,
Really nice shot. "lensalex" is right, this time flash worked quite well. I've never seen a stinkhorn covered with so many flies, too. I also should like to photograph stinkhorns, they're also quite common here in the Hungarian mountains. In the last few weeks I often smelt its odour, but haven't managed to find the mushroom, unfortunately.
Good photo, tfs and congrats. Cheers, László
