Hello All

i was not to many present this last time for posting shots but also not for writing critiques, not each day and sometimes only a few, it's while i have not do many time and in the evening, i am often very tired and not concentrate enough to wright critiques,

the weather is very hot, the insects coming back and i hope to have more time soon for for taken photos

i have taken this Meadow Brown on the Meadow near the house from my parents, i was lucky to have my camera with me

Maniola jurtina

Meadow browns are common almost everywhere in the UK and are found in fields, roadsides and woodland margins.

Physical description


Meadow brown butterflies are a dull brown colour with bright orange-brown patches on their fore- and hind wings and a distinctive dark eyespot on their forewings.

Distribution


They are distributed throughout Europe, eastward to Urals.

Habitat


Meadow browns are common almost everywhere in the UK and are found in fields, roadsides and woodland margins from sea level to 1,800m. The caterpillars are yellowish-green with a darker line down the back and a narrow white stripe along each side.

Diet


The butterflies sip nectar from thistles and knapweed flowers. The caterpillars feed on grasses.

Reproduction


Meadow browns mate during July and lay their eggs on grasses.

Conservation status


They are not listed as endangered on IUCN Red List 2000.

A fine capture of a male Meadow Brown. The lighting shows the contours of the wings with nice sharpness ans colours against a pleasing green blurred BG and the compositionis first class.

Un papillon qui ne vole pas encore à la montagne, mais je pense que ce sera pour bientôt. Une petite visite à ta galerie avant de repartir éventuellement à la montagne. Une image très naturelle, simple et sans prétention. Bonne netteté sur les ailes du papillon.
