The Speckled Teal is distributed in the Andes from Colombia and Venezuela south to Chile and Argentina and, at lower altitudes to eastern Argentina and the south of Brazil.

(Update on the 26th March: after 5 days I finally got an answer about those mysterious ducks on the Marne. They are Speckled Teals. They escaped from someone who is breeding them. They are doing fine. I've seen up to five together on the Marne river. Two were mating)

Approaching was in first difficult. They woud move away when I was at a 10 m distance. After one hour, they would eventually trust me and the female would lay on the ground with closed eyes at only 1 meter distance.

I laid the camera on the concrete path for a better POV and less shaking (It was quite dark already). On this pic the river was in front of her and you can see the city behind. I first shot at ISO 400, then 100. To compensate for the large percentage of miss at ISO 100, I took a large number of pics (600).

PP work:
I cloned out the ring on her right leg.
I cropped out a little of the concrete below.
