Fr: Ragondin
Lat: Myocastor coypus
Nl: Beverrat

This is a large, crepuscular, semiaquatic herbivorous rodent native to South America, but now also present in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. In most regions the coypu is considered a pest. In eastern Europe and Central Asia, however, it is still valued for its fur.
Efforts (hunting, trapping, poisoning)to stop the development of Coypu's in France were vain. Interesting to note: in south America (its native place) he's not doing so well as he has many predators there, including pumas, jaguars, anacondas and ... human.

I could get 2 meters close to that one. Then he got frightened by people passing by, 5 meters away, but he came back. Got 200 pics of him, some close-up's too, but "all body with reflection" was the best shot.

In the reflection the orange things in the mouth are the tooth.

PP work:
Crop above and below.
Hue adjustment for the water (which came slightly purple in the original). coypu itself and reflection were left untouched.

Thanks for looking.

nice pose, those bow ties are a pain, and good focus/colors. i'd increase contrast a little bit.

Hi JeanMarie. Good close-up of this animal with an excellent note about it too. Good clarity and perfect timing to get him doing this cleaning of whiskers(?) and the reflection completes the compsotion well. Murray.

Hi JeanMarie

A very nice and interesting shot from you!
It's not everyday that we see an nutria on TN...so thanks for sharing :)
The composition you managed here is excellent and the reflection you capture from the water is outstanding!
The details are also very nice and sharp and the warm lighting made everything look great!
Exceptional POV, too, as well as DOF.

Bravo and TFS

Hi JeanMarie,
Even though this is a rodent it looks kind of cute. It certainly is enjoying the sun. I like the reflections in this image and the quality is superb. Nice.
Cheers,
Debbie

salut Jean Marie,

Michel
