[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This one is dedicated to Vinny Blood (Vinster) who I was lucky enough to meet today along with Necip and Pekka. Vinny has posted many unusual creatures so I thought this one would be a suitable photo to dedicate to him :-)

Here's another shot of the Hummingbird Hawk Moth. Thanks to my flash-gun I was able to get shutter speeds exceeding 1/2000, even though I still couldn't freeze the wings! :-)

I hope you like it!

Hi Joe,

I just came if from a hummingbird expedition (a failure) and found this wonderful Hummingbird Hawk Moth. Just beautiful with the dark background and the nice flower. The moth is super sharp with great colors and I like the blurring of the wings showing the motion. A very suitable dedication.

Hello Joe,

Without any doubt, I think this one is superior to the precedent one. Excellent composition. Great sharpness. Very good lighting and beautiful colours. Very good work!
Cheers,

Hi Joe,
Fantastic capture!
Excellent timing, very good details and colours.
Very well done,
Siggi

Those wings must really move eh? At 1/200oth you should freeze water:-) Hmmmmm. Well a fine image...not quite as saturated as yesterdays but a different technique. This is a nice new way of presentation...bright colours...suited well for the late summer!

Hi Joe.
It is the truth. Speed of wings motion is fantastic. However, you managed to picture a great of beautifulness scene. I like wonderful composition of the image and nice POV. Flash-gun is really great toy. Excellent lighting and fine rich colours. Sharpness/details of the moth and some parts of flowers are stunning. Well done and kind wishes.

Hi Joe,

This is a nice photo proving your skills. It is not easy to focus so well on this quick flying insect. You did it very well showing sharp details of mot's head and body.

Thank you for sharing,
Cristian

Hi Joe,
Another excellent macro shot. POV and composition are great, the movement of wings shows how fast they are really moving, good lighting and colours.

Cheers

PS Thanks for inviting me today and showing around. I had great day.

Well done, Joe
Flash gun with shutter speeds exceeding 1/2000! Quite technical...
What exactly is a flash gun?
Nicely done again.

Hola Joe, hoy he podido fotografiar a este insecto pero no con la calidad de tu fotografia, insistire.
Una fotografia con la dificultad del dinamismo, con muy buen resultado.
Buena exposición.
Nitida y buen detalle.
Atractivos y naturales tonos de color. Un saludo

Hi Joe
Thank you for dedicating this superb shot to me - it is amazing the wings are still moving at such a fast shutter speed. You've done well to capture it at all. The few I've seen have never hung around long enough for me to get a shot. Excellent detail and exposure. First class!

Thanks for a great day out, managed to see quite a few Red Kites on the way home too, but the light was poor. Will drop you an e-mail soon but for now I'm off to collapse after 250 miles of driving! ;p

Vinny

Hi Joe,i dream one day to take a fantastic shot like that,i think is very very difficult, need a class as your and to be a little lucky.Just my best compliments for this impressive work, have a nice Sunday,Luciano

Sorry for delayed reciprocation to your critique on my previous picture, Joe. Some relatives from wife's side have dropped in for a visit and I'm sort of tied up these days.

I tried my hand in vain to capture this moth in June; it was just a blur! The blighted thing moved so fast I couldn't focus on it.

You, on the other hand, have produced a great image of it while it overs over a flower. The proboscis well into the flower and the eye are beautifully captured here. The whirring wings actually make it an authentic image; freezing them could look incredible, of course.
Maybe next time?
Well done and thanks.

Hello Joe,
This is one of the sharpest in-flights of a Hummingbird Hawk-moth that I have seen. The side POV shows the head, body and proboscis that are tak-sharp and the wings show just the right amount of motion. The use of flash was just right not make the BG too dark.
Bull's eye, Joe!
TFS this fine dedication to our friend Vinny,
Ivan

Hello Joey,

Superb shot and brilliantly presented. I know how fast they move and you managed to shoot it with excellent speed. Well done Ganesh

Hi Joe,
Another nice capture of this beautiful Hawk moth. Very well composed and well timed. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Ciao Joe, splendid capture of fast moth, very difficult, great macro with perfect focus, great details and excellent sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Joe Got to say it was great seeing you guys, also meeting Vinny and Pekka and as always you produce some stunning work, The focus was perfect with excellent DOF control, good light considering it's flash. Well done keep up the great work best rgds Necip

Hi Joe, again,

the dream of any macro photographer, a flying hawk moth. You realized it here. The shot is much better than your previous one because you separated the moth and the flower well. And used 1/2000 sec shutter speed. All looks good. The moth seems to be eyeing you! Great photography.

Best regards
Dietrich

Hello Joe,
This is brilliant and how lucky you were to find this Hummingbird Hawk Moth! I like its pose with the proboscis well extended. Excellent focus on the eye and great sharpness too. The colours of the flower and the dark background makes this perfect!! Well done!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi Joe!

That's incredible, how you can get always more details out of such a tiny thing... Seems you are a master of directing the flashlight, it does not affect the subject badly at all, like it was natural lighting. Thanks much for sharing!
ps. I took a look at your website as well: the photos there are wonderful too.

Best regards,
Andor

Hi Joe
Waow nice capture !
