It's bath time! A female mallard and her ducklings along the river Agout Burlats in the department of Tarn.

... The male wild populations is easily recognizable during the breeding season (molt twice a year), with its bright green head (hence the name). The rest of the plumage is gray-brown to white, with a blue-violet wing mirror; the beak is yellow. After the breeding season, it moved and takes its eclipse plumage (beige similar to the juveniles and females) and loses its feathers. He lives in the reeds and tall grass. Three weeks later, while the males return to their breeding plumage, this period runs from June to August.

The female has brown beak and duller plumage (beige mottled brown) and looks like black duck though generally lighter shade. The beak of the male is yellowish or greenish, more or less spotted with black, and legs are red-orange. Male, female and juvenile have a blue-violet iridescent mirror lined with white bars on the wings. The head of the ducklings is more orange with a cap, back, a bar on the eye and the dorsal dark brown wings, white chest. Domestic breeds can be completely white, black, green as the Cayuga, or look quite similar to the wild population as the Campbells. Domestic ducks are usually completely yellow.

Mallards can live up to 29 years, but lives an average of 5 years.

Salut Magaly,l'image est un peu petite mais pas de problemes,la qualite' des details est excellente,une scene tres jolie depuis le debut de Novembre,ils n'ont pas froid..ehehe...belle soiree' et merci,Luciano
