English name : Lesser Periwinkle – Scientific name : Vinca minor – Family : Apocynaceae.
---
Description : Vinca minor is a plant native to central and southern Europe, from Portugal and France north to the Netherlands and the Baltic States, and east to the Caucasus, and also in southwestern Asia in Turkey.
It is a trailing subshrub, spreading along the ground and rooting along the stems to form large clonal colonies and occasionally scrambling up to 40 cm high but never twining or climbing. The leaves are evergreen, opposite, 2-4.5 cm long and 1-2.5 cm broad, glossy dark green with a leathery texture and an entire margin. The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils and are produced mainly from early spring to mid summer but with a few flowers still produced into the autumn ; they are violet-purple-blue, 2-3 cm diameter, with a five-lobed corolla. The fruit is a pair of follicles 2.5 cm long, containing numerous seeds.
The closely related species Vinca major is similar but larger in all parts, and with relatively broader leaves with a hairy margin.

Bonjour Christian,
Excellent details and exposure in this so difficult to capture vinca. I've tried lots of time with exposure problems.
Absolutely useful note to distinguish between minor and major species.
Best regards, José M.

Bonsoir Christian,
Magnifique comme cette pervenche capte la lumière, sans être surexposée. Arrière-plan tout en douceur, qui sied à cette fleur très fine.
Image épurée, réduite à l'essentiel. J'aime ce genre de photos.
Merci et meilleures salutations
Anne

Hi Christian,
A very beautiful frame filling composition on this Vinca Flower. Soft light, rich color saturation, and sharp detail. A well controled DOF has a nice OOF backround. Looks great!

Hi Taz, it is good to see all thesew spring flowers appearing on TN right now. In NZ this plant is often found growing in hedges, and I remember it as a child and pulling the petals off and seeing the little 'fairy toothbrush' inside it!!
Beautifully captured,
Thank you my friend,
Janice

Bonsoir Christian,

Hi Christian

A splendid macro work from you!
What charming colors and what a fantastic contrast here between this lovely little flower and the BG.
The details are really sharp and crispy-clear while the perfect DOF isolates the petals from the rest of the scene.
Spot-on exposure and a charming composition!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Taz
Beautiful and excellent shot of this pretty periwinkle. For some reason this kind of flower results not very easy to photograph, but you did a wonderful composition showing all its beautiful texture, shape and colors.
Congratulations and TFS.

Hello Christian,
Superb shot!
These flowers are one of my fav. In Poland they are quite strongly bound with Easter. We always use it flowers and leaves for Easter decorations in my house.
The picture is very simple and I love that. The framing, DOF and perfect exposure, clear BG and strong colours create a lovely shot.
VERY WELL DONE!

Hallo Christian
Pleased to meet you. Your gallery is packed with the most stunning flowers, insects and landscapes, the one prettier than the other. I am sure if you look through my critiques given to fellow members you’ll notice that the majority of them are awarded to photos containing something with the colour of purple. I love purple and even created a theme with the title "My purple obsession." Thanks for sharing this beautiful flower with us. The colour is just perfect and the fine white anthers are very bright and clearly visible. A stunning close-up, with sharp details and good composition. There is a slight shiny gloss on the lilac coloured petals and this feature adds a special touch to this photo. I enjoyed the sight. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

simple and nice, I llve your frmaes! greetings Ori
