Calopteryx virgo
Photo taken at Villard de Lans, on the banks of the bournes

The body is blue-green metallic iridescent blue-green eyes. Sexual dimorphism is important.

The female has dark brown and quite iridescent wings, decorated with a small white spot near the tip. His abdomen is blue with a bronze at the end part.

The male has dark brown black blue veined wings. Immatures are paler, with wings of bronze color.

Wetlands, and rather near flowing water.

It may be noted that this insect enjoys fresher and faster compared to other species of damselfly streams. She also prefers smaller rivers and rather shady or high waist. It is typically found in forested streams.
