Beautiful, could not be any better. Love the monastry in the background with just enough focus so it seems secondary to the tree. A new favorite. Thanks for posting

Magnifique ce tilleul revêtu de blanc avec à l'arrière le monastère . Photo prise le jour de Noël, vois-je. Le cadrage est excellent.

Hello Jean Marie,
It is amazing to see how the frost extract the humidity from the air and turn it into ice crystals on ground and vegetation!
Beautiful tree is well framed, inclusion of the curving road works well in the composition!

Ricardo
A very snowy Christmas Jean Marie captured in this scene with wonderful point of view and aesthetic composition.
An image almost in black and white that shows us with excellent focus and sharpness the inclemency of time in that moment with very appropriate vertical framing.
Very good job...thank you for sharing.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo

Hello Jean Marie,
such a sublime photo with the muted colours and the overall atmosphere.I know that TN likes a review to have some sort of critique,so here is mine-I wish I had taken this shot but that is alright because I know sooner or later I'll get one like it.Well done. Bob

I look at a photo and sit awhile..It takes time to digest.
Basically a black & white, with the monastry and hedge adding that bit of color to offset.
The mood is set and the road is clear. To each his own path, and the message is one of choice (ideologically speaking). It speaks of a certain, hard to define solitude..Just my impressions :)
Thank You mf.

What a charming post!
This big-oldlinden look amazing here in your photo.
I really like the contrast between the ice on its smaller branchaes and the dark tree-bark.
Also the mist really enhances the atmosphere here and adds to the overall composition.
Nice, i think, to integrate a bit of the town in the lower part...it gives the picture a bit of a normal look...if you know what i mean.
Very well done!
Bravo and TFS

Hello JeanMarie! What a majestic portrait of this lovely tree! Hoar frost is wonderful to photograph, in sun or cloud, and you have composed this so very nicely! Great POV. Well done! Thank you, Linda
The frost we see is actually called hoarfrost in English,
rarely also called rime. In Dutch it is "rijp" or even "rijm". This type of "deposit" is very common in foggy conditions when the moisture contaent of the air is high. Low temperatures cause the moisture to drop out" in crystal form.
It generally gets ahold of everything and anything! The most spectacular build-up is generally on twigs , stalks , branches etc. Power and telephonelines are aften also great places for the hoarfrost build-ups.
As to the photo the conditions are nicely displayed, the general faint, soft fog. I would crop a wee off the foreground to get rid of as much of the fat gateposts and the road.
Au voir / Tot ziens, Jay

That is a beautiful pictures. The tree is in perfect shape and centered well in the picture. Since the monastry is in color it seems to be be saying, don't forget about me. I bet this would be a great picture in the summer time also. Keep up the good work.
