[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
The muskrat (Ondatra zibethicus) is a rodent of the family of muridés
from 30 to 40 cm length and which can reach 2 kg. It has a large head
with powerful incisors, strong posterior legs and a long compressed
almost naked tail laterally.
It is an amphibious animal which lives near stagnant waters or
current; it digs burrows emerging normally under water, or built
"huts" - vegetable remains ammoncellements in the roselières. Its
diet is primarily composed of plants which it supplements by some aquatic animals.

Originating in North America it was introduced in Europe at the
beginning of the XXe century. It is now common and causes sometimes
damage with the dams and the banks which it saps with its burrows

Hi jacques,
Nice capture of this little fellow. Good exposure and detail throughout the image. The foliage in the FG is a little distracting.

Hi Jacques,
this a nicely detail photo of our little muskrat friend and the inclusion of the plants in front of its face is useful as they show what this animal eats.I have yet to get a photo of these animals out of the water but I hope too soon.Nice fine detail and good focus plus point of view. Tfs. Bob
