Cinclidia phoebe posed on a blue flower in a field of multiple
plants.

Cinclidia phoebe,

Description:
Above fawn-coloured clearly sharp with clear
reddish tapes bordered of black. Border margniale brown black.
Fringe white. Below with large reddish points in edge,
finished by form oval black on bottom yellow clearly. Towards the
base, orange spots enters the veins. Female larger than the male.

Scale:
40-55 mm.

Caterpillar:
Body grisâtre finely ringed of black. Roughcast hairs orange yellow. Black head.

Length: 30 mm.

Plants hosts:
Centaury, Plantain.

Hâbitat:
Meadows, meadows.

Biotope:
Europe, except the extreme septentrional zone.

Another name:
Mélitée of the centauries.

Possible confusions:
Orange Mélitée, Mélitée of the planain.

Biological cycle:
2 generations per annum. The female lays eggs on the
sheets of the plant host. The caterpillars of the last generation
spend the winter.

The BG and DOF make the subject more detailed. The Sharpness is also good.

Hello Maxime,
Excellent capture of this beautiful Fritillary on a Cornflower. Fine sharp details and natural colours. It's often common practise in photography to place the object slightly off-centre and here I would have preferred that. I would have cropped it a bit more on the right.
