Common name : Yellow Ladyslipper – Scientific name : Cypripedium Calceolus – Family : Orchidaceae.
Description : This is a perennial herbaceous plant, measuring from 25 to 50 cm, flowers only at the end of one ten years and as its species (calceolus) indicates it, it likes particularly the grounds limestones. The flower appears in June in mountain. The leaves are alternate. The pheromons which secretes the flower attracts the insects which let themselves trap in the shoe and come out from it covered with pollen to fly away towards another flower...
This wonderful flower becomes increasingly rare in our mountains although it is protected.
Photo : Resized and framed in 800x600 for TN.

Very beautiful Christian,
Great colours this wild orchedee, very nice composition, good job you did

Good photo, beautiful flower.

Very beautiful indeed Christian! I love its morphology and colors...maybe a bit overexposition in some places and the background a bit distracting..a more clean background could have brought a bit more majesty to this beautiful especimen :)

Very well captured with excellent detail

Very nice Christian a little over bright in places, which could be sorted with a light application of burn tool to the bright bits.
In the UK it is more than rare it is on the endangered list and I believe we are down to our last specimn or two and where they are is kept secret, I also believe its another you have to have permition to take a picture of if you are lucky enough to find one ((((.
Afew more notes about this Rare flower would help to teach others about it and where its found.

Guckusko in Swedish ;o). This plant is very rare here too but in my home region Jämtland quite far north there are some locations. As you can see from the name it like limestone and that is why we have it in Jämtland too.

I like how you moved in close on the flower and let it fill the frame. The background would be better of a bit darker.

What an interestig flower, does it trap insects? Great DoF and sharp image. Compositio is very good.

Good shot! You've captured this Lady's Slipper Orchid very nicely. I keep meaning to go looking for these in the Alps myself - there's only one site left here in the UK, since the only other site was vandalised (and the tubers stolen) last month. I've chosen not to visit our sites to prevent trampling and give any seedlings a chance to grow... You're very lucky to have captured this one! Agree with Eagle78/RobBrown that there's a marginal over-exposure, and I think I'd prefer a little more DOF to keep the top sepal in focus along its length. It's a lovely capture though :-D

A colourful image, and very sharp Chritian.

Very nice picture of this orchide Christian. Clever handling of the dof to set off the flower and the colours are great. Well done.

This is a strange flower. First time i've seen and learned of it. Thanx. Nice photo, lovely colours.

Belle orchidée bien capturée. La variété qui pousse chez nous au Québec est différente en couleurs. On la retrouve surtout dans les sous-bois. Je vais tenté d'en saisir une le printemps prochain. Bravo Christian!

so beautiful......

Beautiful colors and interesting textures. I would crop it very close for a nice abstract. I like the curves.

Very nice orchid Christian. Nice warm colors and good sharpness. The species is very endangered directly by shifting or indirectly by changes of conditions on their natural stands.
