[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
Earwigs are Dermaptères.
About twenty sorts in France, the most known of them are Forficula auricularia.

These insects are vegetarian, but they appreciate from time to time a little meat, dead or alive, and occasionally can be cannibal.

Earwig is nocturnal, he dreads the drought, and he likes insinuating himself into the slightest crack or the crevice, especially if they are wet.

In France where we call it "earwigs", it is a part of insects which frighten at any age, this suggestive name by being largely a person in charge.
This fear is perfectly inequitable, because this curious naming of gimlet ears is bound only to the shape of the caudal appendix of the male which looks like the instrument used for that purpose by the jewelers of former days.

Another explanation comes because we find it frequently in the heart of peaches hardly half-opened by the maturity, where from the impression of drilling of the fruit. Knowing that halves of these fruits are exactly called ears, it can be an explanation.

Bonjour Servane,
an attractive picture of the earwig showing that this insect is not so 'unattractive'. The picture is technically perfect with super-sharpness. Colours, framing and composition are very nice, too.
Best wishes, Peter

Bonjour Servane,
Anne

Hello Servane,
You capture this little fellow with wonderful details!
Pin sharp and very attractive colours, the macro work is well done indeed...
Attractive composition, and an educational note!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Bonjour Servane,

Pat
