This morning we had... SNOW !!! This was the most amazing thing I could imagine ! In Januaray and February 2008 it was very warm, like in spring (more than 16°C), and flowers began to open everywhere, and the sun was out every day. So I thought it would be the same weather in March, even warmer perhaps. I was getting used to the idea that we didn't have had any snow this winter.

But then, this morning, it was snowing ! And not only some tiny flakes, but big white flakes of snow that were covering the landscape ! Everything was white ! So of coure, I HAD to go out and take some pictures, but then I realised it was difficult to get any pictures, because it was snowing so heavy, and the snow was so wet, that my camera would have been wet in some seconds only - I couldn't risk that.

I found some sheltered place at the lake, under some kind of natural roof made by lots and lots of branches, at my favourite place - the Coypu place. Sitting at the shore, on a big rock, I spotted a group of Coypus at some distance and then I started taking pictures. They were funny with snow on their faces and backs.

Then, suddenly, while taking pictures, I felt something gnaw on my shoes - one of the babies was on the shore, smelling and trying to eat my shoe while I was occupied with my camera ! :-) He run away as soon as I turned towards him, but he didn't go far, hidden behind a rock, peering out at me sometimes. He was so cute ! I could have stayed all day long, but well, I was getting cold and wet and I had to go home.

But it was a wonderful experience, and it was so wonderful to have snow AT LAST (even if we should be thinking of spring by now). Maybe it won't last, but I've some nice pictures to share, and many wonderful souvenirs ! :-)

I hope you like this picture, it is the young one that was trying to eat my shoe. You can also have a look at the WS, the picture isn't of best quality, but I think it is funny...

Hi Valerie,
sounds like you had a great experience with this cheeky baby Coypu! I love the snowy flakes stuck to his fur here and your workshop made me laugh too. Very good detail and a very nice POV.I am pleased to hear you have had some snow at last, i don't think i will see any this year now..

I never thought that I will miss snow but I did. Excellent sharpness and composition. TFS

Hello Valerie,
I have to congratulate with the snow, since you seem to be happy for it!
And I'm sure your little furry friend is happy too, maybe this is the first snow he ever sees...
Hopefully the setback of spring will do no harm to those who thought summer not winter was next..!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Valerie,
Beautiful picture of this snowy coypu. It is so cute. Nicely composed and presented. Also enjoy reading your note.

Hi Valerie,
A lovely capture of this beautiful rodent. Excellent sharp details and a fine composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hello Valerie!
As I see this is a very "fresh" picture. I am really waiting for the spring, but I can see that the snow and low temperatures are also in France these days. Not very good for us and for... this creature :)
Anyway, the sharpness, details and DOF are very good in this photo. And it is really great to watch it (except these terrible low temperatures! ;>).
Best greetings from Lodz,
Radomir

Hola Valerie,
detalles y buen pov,
excelente trabajo... (18/55 es magnífico)
presentación muy bonita.
saludos

You must get very little snow in your area as I do. I always get excited when it does snow...even though a few flurries will close the city down. Great shot of the Coypu. I don't think he is as happy about the snow. Enjoy it while you can.

Thanks Valerie, you gave me a laugh. Very nice shot of this Coypu. It's an animal I'm not familiar with, but it looks large (like a Beaver in Canada?). The pose is very good, with great colour and detail. The snow on the fur is an extra bonus, and the workshop is an even greater bonus. Very good presentation all around.

Thanks, John

Hi Valerie,
Wonderful shot of this Coypu and the sprinkling of snow flakes on its fur makes the image more beautiful. Very neat and sharp image with nice colours and perfect use of flash light. You have captured a fine pose here with your chosen POV and the composition is superb. Kudos.

Hello Valerie

Great snowy capture of this Coypu, the fur details and colours are excellent.I think I have seen one of these here in Canada, and I have investigated on a federal Government website and they have been reported to exist in Canada as non indigenous species.
The white fur around the nose was a clue for me.
Great POV.

Valerie,
This looks like a BEAVER to me.
You had a WONDERFUL experiance.
Does it have a "FLAT" tail like a paddle?
If it does it is a BEAVER; and, here we have thousands of them in the streams. They make huge nests with logs of wood and damn our rivers.
Warm regards, Mario.

Hello Valerie. You have captured this coypu very well with snow all over the body. I like the detail and sharpness of the image in a beautiful pose. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni

Un buen trabajo con unos colores y sobre todo ambiente muy bien captado. La cabeza y concretamente el hocico y el ojo dan mucha vida al conjunto por su preciso enfoque.

Saludos: Josep Ignasi.
