Dear friends

I'm back from my holidays in France, and I also was very busy during the last days (job, photography). But now I find a little moment to share with you this vernal impression of France.

We are here in the Département de l'Hérault. The river you can see is the Vis. It was quite impressive due to heavy rainfall the days before. I for myself was impressed and delighted by the magnificent vernal colours and the refreshing atmosphere.

The Vis is the river that created the famous Cirque de Navacelles which was the starting point of our hiking tour. Concerning the geological aspects, we are in a karst region with many caverns. The most famous is the "Grotte des Demoiselles" in the same dpartment.

Karst topography is a landscape shaped by the dissolution of a layer of soluble bedrock, usually limestone or dolomite. Due to subterranean drainage, there may be very limited surface water. Many karst regions display distinctive surface features, with sinkholes or dolines being the most common.

Kind regards

N.B. Taken in RAW, basic level corrections in Camera RAW; import to PS CS4, level corrections, little saturation, sharpness.

Hy Markus
Welcome back from your trip!
I think that the vernal atmosphere is much fuller with colors than the summer. And also you can see the rebirth of vegetation, and this is a magnificent phenomena.
I like this picture, a little bit soft, with this fresh green! Well done and waiting for more pictures!

Lieber Markus,

Hi Markus. I hope you had a good holiday. Looking at this picture it looks a beautiful place. This has been taken from a good POV looking up the river. i like the way the trees has all the different colours of green.Well done TFS.

Ciao Markus,
Grazie e complimenti.
Ciao Maurizio

It is ethereal and Jungian.....you and I posted similar shots today Markus...normally you do not do landscapes as this, but your artists eye does teh image well...in mine..I was stuck with low MP so had to make up for it with my art technique of old which at times can control the situation. Well seen...always enjoy your shots!

Hi Markus,

Welcome back - I hope you had a most enjoyable vacation. Looking at this picture I get the feeling that I am standing there looking up the river. I want to follow the bend and see more. The various shades of green leaves are wonderful with the one white bush a nice contrast. Beautiful landscape and wonderful composition.

Hi Markus,
A very pleasant shot of this river passing through the trees.
Interesting to read about the caves here.
I am a speleologist and have been exploring caves for over 35 years.

Cheers & TFS

Hello Markus,
Welcome back!
A wonderful portrayal of spring in S. France and a great study in greens!
The composition and POV of the small river winding its way through the different trees in their springtime splendour is superb. I love it and would like it as a favourite.
Thanks and best regards,

Hi again dear Markus ,
This is green and fresh that i like it.
Lovely place.

The frame is so restricted, it is like the 'macro' of a segment of the river flowing placidly through a verdant bend in its course resplendent with the signs of spring, Markus.
Once again, it is your eye that has 'seen' that something special about this segment, and it is beautiful. The river is so well integrated with its surroundings, it's part of the whole. I like the change in the colour of water; it turns bluish before disappearing round the bend.
A sublime composition that fills me with joy and makes me intensely aware of the ecstasy you must have felt while capturing it with your camera.
Hope you enjoyed you holiday.
Warm regards.

When I look at these tender green leaves, all different hues, I think of making myself a salad with it or I imagine being a deer and chewing them. It looks delicious, to the palate and to the eyes. You captured the essence of spring and its different fresh green very well, my friend. Have a good day Markus!
