Rat byting a frog to death.

I didn't see the frog in first because of its color. So perfect for camouflage. The sharp teeth of the rat are through the skull or the spine of the frog.

The amount of rats in Paris is estimated to 6.000.000 in mars 2010. (... and I do see a lot, indeed)
One may not think about the rats in first as predators. Yet they do cause extensive damage to the vegetation and avifauna.

When people saw me shooting they came immediatly to watch. They were loud and the rat ran away immediatly with its prey.

PP work:
- crop: I kept 85% of the original
- moderate increase of contrast on the rat head.
- horizontal flip

Hello JeanMarie,
I think this is a very important illustration of the pressure rats pose on the native biodiversity. It's not common to see rat hunting for frogs. Actually I haven't heard about it before. Perfect documentation photograph!
Best greetings and TFS!

Bonjour Jeanmarie,

salut JeanMarie
this is very nice capture of Rattus. Probably it is a R. norvegicus. We dont see often rodents' shots here. your capture great with pose, focus, eyes contact and POV. nicely composed and presented. thanks for sharing, best wishes

Hi Jean Marie
It is a rely fantastic observation, great moment and interesting situation. I have never seen similar thing. Photo is also very good from the technical point of view but maybe it could be cropped a litle bit more from the left side
