Hello Jacqueline,
A great shot of this little June Bug who has shown up on this cold and windy day just for you. The detail is great and the DOF give us a close look at the entire insect with sharp focus. The exposure is just right and the colors are very natural.
Sometimes we have to just shoot what is available, so this is just fine for this time of the season. I always have a hard time figuring out what to post when winter is just leaving and spring isn't quite here yet. The insects haven't emerged yet and everything is dull gray and brown in the woods.

Remarkably sharp picture of this black coloured Beetle, Jacqueline.
The POV gives a perfect impression about each limb of this insect.
The colour tones are very natural.

thanks for liking my rafflesia shot.
This beetle is very well captured with the clarity especially on the hairs and thorns on the legs.
The soft blurry ground gives a good contrast to this dark and shiny beetle.
Nice diagonal positioning too.

Un petit coléoptère que je n'ai pas vu ni senti passer..malgré son nom.
Pas facile de bien les photographier avec leur carapace noir et brillante!

Chez nous aussi, il y a beaucoup de crache sang. Quand j'étais petite, je m'amusais à les prendre... pour les embêter un petit peu, je les remettais sur la route... et ils envoyaient un liquide couleur de "sang orange"...
Très chouette ta photo, bien nette.

Bonjour Jacqueline,

Ah! C'est à cela que ca ressemble un Géotrupe! Je dis cela car je viens récemment de lire sur les Géotrupes et les Bousiers dans les magnifiques Souvenirs Entomologiques de Jean-Henri Fabre.

Ici l'exposition est bien réussie et le focus bien défini. Les seules choses peut-être est qu'il me semble percevoir une dominante bleue dans l'image et j'aurais peut-être privilégié une composition verticale en décentrant l'insecte en lui laissant de l'espace devant lui.

Merci de partager avec nous cet insecte dont les moeurs sont des plus captivants...

Hi Jacqueline,

Very well done macro! The details and colour of the beetle are first rate. I can even see the little hairs around its head and the fine details of its antennae and legs. You mentioned that one of its names is June Bug. I remember those bugs very well. I lived for two years in Lorraine, when I was very young. In the spring, the June Bugs would come out when it started to get dark, and they were everywhere -- especially, where there were light sources. That was an interesting experience. TFS.

Hello Jacqueline,
Black, or almost black beetles are difficult to photograph well. But you have captured this Dor Beetle from a great dorsal POV to show its features with excellent sharpness and a fine blue tinge of colour. The composition on the sandy soil is perfect.
