Here is the face of the emperor dragonfly. Because I 've got nice feedback I will show you some more. As I understood it is not so often captured.
When you watch closely you see at the left of the head a "cocoon" in the water. I think that is one as
Here you see the ANAX IMPERATOR or emperor dragonfly (Grote Keizerlibel in Dutch and funny enough Koenigslibel in German) laying her eggs on a plant in the water. It happened right in front of my camera so I made a whole range. Everytime she flew away and came back to the same spot.

The largest of the county's dragonflies, a powerful insect, wary and difficult to approach. It is most usually seen on territory, hunting over a waterbody, swooping and darting with amazing speed and agility. In flight the male appears a striking turquoise blue, the female a dullish green, but the absence of spots on the abdomen separates them from the other hawker types. At rest a dark line can be seen running down the middle of the abdomen.

Favoured habitats include big ponds, gravel pits, canals and slow flowing rivers with abundant marginal vegetation. The flight period is from early June to late August. On several occasions continental specimens are thought to have bred at Gibraltar Point - the females being coloured blue as the in the male forms.

For those who like to see the whole range have a look here:

Hi Hendrik!
This is superb photo for sure! Composition is excellent and it has something like arty mood. I like colours - green dragon, red roots in water, blue reflected sky. And on BG we can see also one of water true bugs. Great piece of pond's life here. To my favs.

Salut Hendrik,
Très bonne netteté et détails. La lumière et la composition sont belles : Bravo! Samuel

Hello Hendrik, another excellent shot of damselfly. Great lighting, colours, details and sharpness, nice bg and contrast. Great work. Very well done, thanks for sharing

Amazing shot Hendrik!
Perfect as always but what's more... POV is superb!
This kind of shots needs a new category - maybe "art-modern shots?"

Hello Hendrik

This is lovely work. So many nice clear bright colours. Your POV is excellent as the light is hitting the beautiful transparent wings and they are emitting colurs just like a prism. Outstanding!! Thanks.

Hello Hendrik,

Great photo! It has a fairytaleish/painting like atmosphere. I like it a lot! Colors are great, exposure is good (some hot spots between the wings on the body), details are sharp and lovely composition. You have got some noise in the bg and I don't really dig your frame. Still it's a great picture! TFS!

Very nice shot. Perfect sharpness and colors.

vroeger had je op school van die mooie getekende platen over de natuur. Dit doet me een beetje hieraan denken. Schittterende foto wederom, prachtige diepte, alsof het 3 D is. Heel mooi gedaan.

Great shot Hendrik,
Excellent colour, Good detail and good POV. Nicely exposed. Nicely composed. I think this is one of your best Hendrik.
Excellent notes.
Well captured, thanks for posting.

This is a wonderful micro world of its own, Hendrik.

There is so much to see, and yet, it is quite natural and easy on the eyes.

Excellent details, not only on the dragonfly, but other inhabitants as well. Great colors, lighting and POV.

You have packed a lot of punch in this interesting and diverse photo, thank you so much for sharing it with us.
