[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This shot was taken at Escourou's lake, near Miramont De Guyenne in Lot Et Garonne. The grasshopper was standing in the dry grass, at 2 meters from the shore. It stayed here 2-3 minutes and then went away. This was enough to capture several shots. I tried different points of view and turned the grass in many directions to try different lightings. I like to see the details in the abdomen of the grasshopper and the eye looking in my direction.

The Orthoptera are an order of insects with incomplete metamorphosis, including the grasshoppers, crickets, locusts, and katydids. Many insects in this order produce sound (known as a "stridulation") by rubbing their wings against each other or their legs, the wings or legs containing rows of corrugated bumps. Their ears, located in the front legs, are interconnected in such a way that they are able to locate each other by sound. More details are available at wikipedia.

I started by cropping the picture and by removing the noise. I used a contrast mask to open up the strong shadows created by the hard sun of july. I increased the saturation.

Very nice macro Michael with good details and colour. Composition would have look better IMO if the hanger were diagonal rather than horizontal. Well done.

Salut Michael
Très belle macro et joli PDC, le sujet est bien mis en evidence.

Excellente photo macro Michael.
Effectivement il y a beaucoup de détails dans ta photo et une luminosité favorable a aidé à faire ressortir les couleurs vertes et les tons de beiges de la sauterelle.

Hello michael,
What a great shot. It could be a little sharper in back portion, but I like it anyway. The grasshopper beautiful and you have captured their colours beautifully. Well done!
Devendra!

Très bonne composition, photo bien nette aux couleurs vives.
