[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ökologische Bedeutung des Achterdieksees. Der Achterdieksee trägt trotz seiner geringen Größe zur ökologischen Bereicherung seines z.T. noch landwirtschaftlich geprägten Umfeldes bei, durch die naturnah bewachsenen Ufer mit Röhricht und einer vielfältigen und dichten Unterwasser-Flora. Hier, wie in einigen benachbarten Teichen, können sich Libellenlarven und Amphibienlaich entwickeln. Die ausgewachsenen Lurche finden auch an Land gute Lebensbedingungen in der vielfältig mit Hecken gegliederten Landschaft. Die viel befahrene Franz-Schütte-Allee schränkt die Überlebenschancen wandernder Amphibien jedoch ein.

Aufgrund der politischen Entscheidung, vier Sandentnahmestellen, die durch den Autobahnausbau der A 27 entstanden waren, zu Badeseen umzugestalten, entstanden die Seen "Achterdieksee", "Bultensee", "Stadtwaldsee" und "Waller Feldmark See".
1974 wurde die Rettungswache Achterdieksee gebaut. Bis zu ihrer Fertigstellung wurde der Rettungswachdienst mit Hilfe eines Opel Rekord Kombi und einer kleinen mobilen Rettungsstation (Wohnwagen "Eriba Puck") durchgeführt.
Der See gehört zum Stadtteil Oberneuland und hat eine Fläche von ca. 78000 m² (7,8 ha) sowie eine maximale Tiefe von 18 Metern. (DLRG.de)
