[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
At first sight, this small beetle jsut about 7 mm in length looks like a ladybird of the family Coccinellidae. However, it is
- Melasoma vigintipunctata
- family: Chrysomelidae

The species is less abundant than our common ladybirds. It is found on several trees/bushes such as Salix and Populus but also on Alnus and Betulus.

Sorry, that the focus is not well placed on the head!

Ciao Peter. Very good colours indeed considering the low light. Details are very good as usual MF.

Hello Peter,
An excellent macro for such a small species of Chrysomelid beetle. The lateral/ dorsal POV is very good and shows the features with top sharpness where it matters and the colours are natural with the clean BG ideal for showing it well.
Thanks for sharing this image of what must be a new species on TN.
Best regards,
Ivan

Lieber Peter,
Anne
