A good in flight capture Thorsten,
Good detail and colours. . exposure and lighting are good. Good POV, notes and framing.
Keep practising, you'll be getting it right every time very soon.
Thanks for posting, enjoy the rest of the week.

I take my hat off for a person who keeps on trying, trying, trying, to get it right. I think it was Thomas Edison who said, after failing 1 000 times to invent the light bulb, "I have not failed, for I have discovered 1 000 ways it did not work". So, I hope you don't have to do it 1 000 times, but keep on trying and I am sure we will see that magnificent in-flight shot come through, sooner than later. Have a look at this photo from Howard Cheek (marhowie) and read his notes (especially the end of the first paragraph). Then read Callie's critique on the same page (number 54 from the top) and for good measure you can read my critique as well (number 76 from the top).
This doesn’t come overnight and Howard surely did not have this falling in his lap. It was months of hard work.
Your photo has all the basics in place; composition, colour, DOF, BG, and exposure. All it needs now is the correct timing to get that focus to hit the spot and you're going to be in the pound seats.
Good luck and TFS.

It is out of focus but what a fantastic position you've captured! On the turn with the wings fanned out, just great. I know how fast these birds are and I think any lens will struggle to keep up with the speed of this bird. Great work and excellent effort!

wenns auch noch nicht ganz perfect ist, ich finds super. Man koennte meinen der hat den Kern in der Luft aufgefangen. Klasse Pose, der Hintergrund harmoniert farblich super mit dem Gefieder. Eine schoene Komposition.

Not frequently such you will see! I present as the photographer photographing similar turned. The Super-moment.
Even the picture is not as sharp as you like it , it is a super shot depicting the arial acrobatics these birds do.Have thought of using flash to freez the moment for these flying shots?

Love this picture. It's not the sharpest one but it gives a good feeling of motion. It also has wonderfull wing detail. Trying to get one of these birds on camera during flight and eventualy succeeding must be great.
very beautiful image...
great composition with the wings wide open...
may be it could be better by 1/2000 shutter speed... but I know, so immediate shot... so no much time to think about...
well done thorsten...
I like it much...
