En. Capercaillie, Da. Tjur, Du. Auerhoen, Fi. Metso, Fr. Grand Tétras, Ge. Auerhuhn, It. Gallo cedrone, No. Storfugl, Sp. Urogallo, Sw. Tjäder

The male is the largest grouse in the world, almost entirely blue-black in plumage. The female Capercaillie most closely resembles the female Black Grouse but she is bigger and warmer brown with distinct rufous colouring in her throat, breast and tail.

Hello Angelo,
a wonderful capture, your details are very sharp and the colors are well saturated. Great POv and very nice details in the plumage.
Great shot.

This is a very nice bird! I say you where very lucky to come across this bird. You captured the picture when the bird's eye was looking at the camera. Very smart.

Nice co-incidence. I just posted a Grouse which I shot in the Canadian Rockies. I think I will be updating my page before too long, and identify it as a Blue Grouse.

See Blue Grouse

Bella foto, ottima luce.

Hello Angelo,
What luck to be able to get a shot of this beautiful bird! I hope he didn't attack you! Nice details and colours. Well done!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Angelo,
This is the first time I see this bird. It is really amazing by its color; I love those tones of red, black and grey. This lightning and shadow are very impressive; what a nice portrait! Thanks,

Ciao Angelo, bell'uccello, mai visto prima, splendidi colori, grande posa e magnifici dettagli, BRAVISSIMO, ciao Silvio

am a biologist for the newly-established Calimani National Park in Romania's northeastern Carpathian Mountains. We are developing an educational nature trail in our Park - the first of its kind in Romania - and will highlight the capercaillie on one of our information panels. We would very much like to use your very spectacular capercaillie photo for this project. Of course you would receive full credit for the image. Is this a possibility? Thank you for considering our request.
