[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One week ago on Monday we returned from our holiday to Greece.
During our holiday we were sunbathing in Nei Pori on the Aegean Sea coast. It was beautiful. I also was two times in mountains. This photo was taken during my first trek just before Mytikas peak. You can see Skolio peak on the left (2911m).
I had to use train (two stops) and hitch-haking. People was very friendly, so I could have done my trip. I left our apartment at 6.00 and could have started from Prionia (about 1050m) at 7.50, went through Agapitos Refuge (A Refuge - about 2100m), Skala (2866m), Mytikas (2918m), Skala again, Skolio (2911m), and again Agapitos Refuge and Prionia and Litochoro (beautiful town under Olympus, 5km from Aegean Sea coast). Because I started at 7.50 the temperature was quite good for walking. I tooks me about 1hour 45 minutes to reach refuge (1050m - 2100m - very fast), and another 2 hours and 45 minutes to reach a peak. But because of my good speed I overtook a temperature (normally 100m = -0,5 Celsius degrees - so at the peak it was about 15 Celsius degress less then on coast). The way between Skala and Mytikas is quite difficult and dangerous, but if you have some mountain experience, it's not too dangerous and difficult. But during my way back I had to help one Greek young man, who was wery frightened. I had to show him where to put his legs and hands. The situation was caused because of his "friends" who had left him on the summit!
I'm very proud that I was on the highest peak of Greece. Beautiful views. Excellent!
Thanks for visiting.
