Sitting in the shadow near the river on Ikaria island, I was looking for dragonflies and frogs around a small pond. My mood was quite melancholic because it was my last day on the island and almost the end of my trip in Greece. It was a quite afternoon. Nobody was around - of course nap time! After a while, I had the strange impression that somebody was watching me… Until I look up and saw this beautiful male watching my movements from the nearest tree!
Happy moment. You think you are alone, and definitely not. Thanks my lizard friend! Ευχαριστώ Κορκοφιλάκι μου !

I dedicate this post to all of my TN friends. When many people in Northern countries suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), or winter depression and consume antidepressant pills, my therapy is TN! Thank you, Merci, Teşekkür ederim, Dank U, Danke schön, Ευχαριστώ, Grazie, Obrigada, Gracias…

Laudakia stellio daani (Beutler & Frör, 1980)

Hello Catherine,
Very nice photo to celebrate your 400th posting. The lizard is sitting in beautiful light, natural colours and an excellent diagonal composition. Fantastic blue BG. Very good sharp detailed. Nice POV with eye-contact. Up to nr. 500!

Hi Catherine.
A nice and interesting image, chosen for yours 400 celebration.
Look like this lizard would say:"take me more pictures!"
Friendly greetings.Alin.

Sevgili melankolik arkadaşım Cathy!

Firstly i congratulate you that you reached your 400th posting on TN! You have been such a valued member here and your gallery is something to be really be proud of. It has been and still is a great pleasure for me to take a look at your very beautiful images which always are technically perfect and also very informative/educative. This one is no exception to that. Such a beautiful and familiar -at least form me:)- lizard presented here with immaculate sharpness and lovely colours. Spot-on focus and the natural lighting is superb. Excellent POV to portray it and a precise DOF. Very nicely composed MF!
Apart from these, i am touched with your story while leaving Greece. It reminded my similar feelings while I was leaving my homeland Cyprus in each visiting there, and a music and voice by Bob Dylan ring clearly in my ears:

How many roads must a man walk down,
before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove fly,
before she sleeps in the sand?
And how many times must a cannon ball fly,
before they're forever banned?
The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.
How many years can a mountain exist,
before it is washed to the sea?
How many years can some people exist,
before they're allowed to be free?
And how many times can a man turn his head,
and pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.
How many times must a man look up,
before he sees the sky?
And how many ears must one man have,
before he can hear people cry ?
And how many deaths will it take till we know,
that too many people have died?
The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.
The answer my friend is blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.

Once more thanks a lot for all sharing, especially your hearty friendship MF!

Congratulations on your 400th, Cathrine!

Lovely Agama! They are quite common here, found in the city as well as in open areas.

Too bad about the SAD over there. It was 30 °C here today, too warm for the season. I'm afraid this will bring our blooming season to a premature end.

All the best,

Hola Catherine,

Merhaba Catherine,
I am very sorry for my delay. I was field in last weekend. Congratulations on your 400th post, with a nice selective shot of Laudakia stellio (Dikenli Keler) to celebrate. It gave a nice pose to you. As if, it knows your 4th milestone. You greatly captured it in therapy. Sharp focus, POV, eyes contact and composition great. The post is well documented with good informative notes. I wish you all the best and I hope we will see many hundred shots from you. thanks for sharing it and other 399 posts.
Tebrik ederim. iyi geceler.

Hi Catherine,

I'm sorry for commenting Your anniversary pic with a little delay, but better later than never... First of all congratulations for reaching the milestone of 400 uploads. You're right, not only TN but photography itself is a very good antidepressant medicine. Although the best medicine is sex. :)

Fabulous capture of this Mediterranean lizard, top class sharpness, plenty of details, pleasant composition, and the blurred blue-ish background is something rarely seen. Excellent presentation of the species, well worth to be chosen as the 400th post. Bravo.

I hope to see another at least 400 photos of You, such high level shots as this one. Thanx in advance for sharing. :) And of course tfs this and the useful note.

Friendly regards, László
