I think it will be a butterflies week for me… from my archives. Next week, I will see and post maybe new ones!
It is again a photo from Ikaria island, Aegean Sea.

Nymphalis egea Cramer, 1775
Anc. name: Polygonia egea
Famille : Nymphalidae
Common names: Southern Comma [En],Vanesse des pariétaires [Fr], Zuidelijke aurelia [Nl], Anadolu Yırtık Pırtığı [Tr]

This species and the Comma, Nymphalis c-album, are distinctive. The Southern Comma is generally paler and brighter with fewer and smaller black marking on the upperside.
Distribution: South-East Europe, Middle East, Iran, Pakistan, Bhutan.
It flies from March to September depending on the location.
The larvae feed on Parietaria officinalis.

Here on a Vitex agnus-castus shrub.

hello Catherine
super picture
great details and beautiful colours
great sharpness and nice light
greeting lou

Dear Catherine,
I think, taking pictures of butterflies is not an easy task. They are always in motion and focusing even with a fastest lens is a real challenge.Looks like you have a passion for photography and the equipment you are using are quite capable of producing amazing results.Do not be afraid using High ISO setting, like ISO200, ISO400 or even Higher. The most Important think in this type of Photography is to have the entire subject in focus.Or Just place the camera parallel to the Butterfly so each part of it's body to be equally distanced to the Lens. Keep-up the good work and enjoy your 40D.
Best Regards,
George Veltchev

Bon après-midi
