[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
While looking at this photo, I remember immediately the fragrance of this common plant of phrygana, the sound of cicadae and grasshoppers and, with some imagination (specially today, it's very cold here!), I can feel the sun on my skin… You may say that I’m a dreamer…

Thymus capitatus (L.)Hoffmanns.&Link.
Family: Labiatae
Common names: Headed Savory [EN], Θυμάρι [GR], Başak kekik, Eğe Kekiği, Lila kekik [TU], Kopfiger Thymian [GE], Tomillo andaluz [SP], Timo arbustivo [IT], Thym Zaatar [FR].

Range: Europe - Mediterranean.
Habitat: Dry and stony places, usually calcareous soils.

An evergreen shrub from 20 cm to 50 cm.
It is in leaf all year, in flower from May to October. The flowers are hermaphrodite, pollinated by bees, flies, lepidoptera.
The plant is sometimes used as a condiment. An essential oil from the plant is used for flavouring baked goods, condiments, beverages, ice creams etc. It is called 'Spanish oregano oil'. Leaves are edible raw in salads or added as a flavouring to cooked foods. An aromatic tea is made from the leaves. If the leaves are to be dried, the plants should be harvested in early and late summer just before the flowers open and the leaves should be dried quickly.
The leaves, and especially the essential oil contained in them, are strongly antiseptic, deodorant and disinfectant. The essential oil should not be used in aromatherapy because it is highly irritant to the mucous membranes. The essential oil, known as 'Spanish oregano oil', obtained from the leaves is also used in perfumery and soaps, as a mouth wash, medicinally etc.

Hola Catherine.

Bonjour Catherine,
magnifique image. Très bon POV et votre choix.
Les détails et les couleurs de haut. Une nouvelle macro exceptionnelles.
Un beau dimanche,

Hi Catherine!

I missed this wonderful "kekik" photo. You have done it very well. Vey sharp and clean. Colours look natural and well saturated. As you know we use this genus plants as a spice. I love its taste with barbequed meat. Thanks for sharing.

Today we have a sunny day but very cold. I read from thermoteter in the Square of Gökdere that it is 10 degree Celcius. We hade fear when it would snow, the trees get frozen and we couldn't find any fruit. But thanks to God, there isn't snow and ice on the flowers of trees.

Have a nice Sunday too.
Greetings from Bursa.

And and and... Our friend Bayram said that you will come here, I'm very glad and looking forward for you. :)

Catherine çok güzel bir çiçek. Nefis bir makro olmuş.
Eline sağlık. Yorumunh için teşekkürler.

Bonjour Catherine,
Très belle macro valorisant bien le sujet sous une excellente profondeur de champ.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.

Hy Catherine
Oh, you are right: looking at your foto I remember the field thymus that grows in many places (in Romania, I don't know too much about the Belgium) , from low-lands to the mountains. Probably the volatile oils are released with more intensity in the sunny warm summer days. So, you are not the only dreamer...
What to say more, excellent details in this small flower head. (Are small, isn't it?)
All the best,
