Hello my Friends!
After 2 weeks of really hard entomological work in the field finally I'm back to Lodz for longer, so I hope to be much more active in TN gallery now :>
And today I would like to present you the first picture from my last trip to my favourite region - Balkan Peninsula. This time photo comes from Greece :>

Here we are in very special place, both because of natural character and cultural importance. This is a small part of Meteora, a region of Pindos Mts., Central Greece.

The unique character of this place is not only because of the great shapes of rocks but also because one of the largest and most important complex of Eastern Orthodox monasteries is localized. The monasteries were built in XIV century on the top of these rocks.

Accoridng to geological history of this area, the rocks were formed about 60 million years ago during the Tertiary Period, and since that moment water, wind and earthquakes gave them present shapes.

The Greek name "Meteora" means "suspended rocks", "suspended in the air" or "in the heavens above", and I really believe that this name is perfect to this mountain area :>

Have a nice day!!!

hello radomir,
nice shot, the shape and the tecture of the rocks look quite interesting, well composed shot with fine pov, effective framing too,
well done,
tfs & regards

Hi Radomir,
It looks like many of us were absent during the summer. But it is glad to see some return. The shapes of these rocks are wonderful and the soft edges created by water and wind made it even more beautiful.
Considering that you took this with harsh sunlight in the middle of the summer, you exposure control is very good. There is very good detail in the shaded area.

Hello Radomir,
A wonderful capture of these impressive Meteora rocks. The lighting and composition make this image very appealing and the vegetation at their base gives some idea of the scale.
Your note is interesting but you don't mention the type of rock: it looks like sandstone if the strata are anything to go by.
TFS this fine image of what must be a very interesting habitat.
Best wishes from Scania,

Kolejne piękne miejsce. Pięknie wykadrowane (widać rękę Mistrza :))Naturalne kolory są dodatkowym atutem tego zdjęcia.
Pozdrawiam i czekam na kolejne - Małgosia
