|Podiceps cristatus. Breed on fresh water, sometimes in colonies. In winter also in estuaries and coastal waters. Here, in lake Kerkini's northern shore. The lake was formed in 1932, when a dam was built on Strymon river. It is the wildlife-richest habitat in Greece and one of the ten water-reserves protected by Ramsar Treaty.|
