Platalea leucorodia. Breeds in shallow fresh and coastal waters, nesting in trees, bushes and red-beds in marshy areas. Here, in lake Kerkini's western shore. The lake was formed in 1932, when a dam was built on Strymon river. It is the wildlife-richest habitat in Greece and one of the ten water-reserves protected by Ramsar Treaty.
