The area of Sigri (North of the island) is a paradise for lizards. This region is volcanic and very dry. Walking along the road which goes down to the little harbour of Sigri, I saw many of them... but not always easy to approach. And also may kestrels hunting and playing with the wind. This lizard allowed me to take his (or her?) portrait without moving. ("If I don't move, she wouldn't see me...) Beautiful eyes...
ID: Ophisops elegans, I suppose. But there are some subspecies. I'm sure Bayram can help me!
T'as de beaux yeux...
Identifcation: Un ophisops elegans je suppose. Mais il y a des sous-espèces. Bayram pourra sûrement m'aider...

Hello Catherine, a superb portrait shot of a snake-eyed lizard. This is definetely Ophisops elegans since it has a 'transparent spectacle' (eye cover) as in snakes. Great shot and i am sure Professor Bayram will love this delightful dedication.
TFS and G's,

Hello Catherine great shot of this beauty and great dedication.
TFS and regards,

Hi Catherine, thanks a lot for this pleasant dedication to me. I realy apreciated it that you captured it expertly. Indeed i am in diurnal courses now. But my students told me this fine dedication and i gave an interval to write something to you and thanks. As mentioned by my assistant Mehmet it is absolutely Ophisops elegans. I am not sure its subspecific status but i think it may be macrodactylus which it lives adjacent Anatolian parts.
On Trichodes, i have got an entomologist friend in our Department and i show him your shot and he confirmed me. In T. nobilis the background colour is not black, a bluish-greenish metalic colours exist that he stated me my shot from izmir is nobilis. i'll upload it in future for comparison. Anyway, Thanks a lot once more for this beauty MF!
All the best!

Hi Catherine. This lizard has some beautiful colours which your side view shows so well. With good use of the light in the eye. It looks as if you had bright light to work with and you have delt with it well. Good detail in the colourful skin. well done TFS.

Hi Catherine...

Excellent painting. I know how this is with lizards. It be able to last so without movement until some rustle will hear. I had happiness two razy. Your is in beautiful colours, there are shiny eye and well visible fingers. Very nicely blurred background.

Hola Catherine,
precioso lizard,
bonito foco y pov.
buena iluminación y color.

Hy Catherine
I think that you captures even the island and the sky in the lizard eye! From Romnia I know only Lacerat viridis with "greenish" lock , so I am glad to discover this colored lizard from Greece.TFS!
