because they live in to the ground for abouth 15 years
In june they come out the ground to peel, and looks then on a cicade
they live 1 year to make love
this one is not peel,i found this one under a rock in a hollow
this is very rare because they are live deep in the ground

Hello Lou,
Nice to see a cicada nymph as seen in this fine sharp frame-filling macro capture. It is not often we get the chance to see them before the adult stage.
Thanks and best regards,
Ivan

Hallo Lou,
Groet,
Peter

Hello again Lou!
This is a picture I always wanted to take! A nymph of Cicada, alive and so fresh! You were very lucky to see it in the wild :) Many times I saw exuviae, but never alive larva :)
TFS this great documentary picture.
All the best,
Radomir

Hi Lou,

What a lucky find this was! If anyone would find it under a rock, you would be the man. This may be the first cicada nymph on TN. An excellent shot with natural colors and excellent details. And I was expecting to see an orchid.

Jane

interesting macro glance and very fine photo

hello Lou,
Interesting posting to show us a cicada before peeling which gives it a very special look. I just wonder if you put the cicada back under the stone? These creatures really have an amazing life circle.
Thanks and have a nice day
Anne

Hello Lou!

Very interesting post. Not very beautifull but rare view. I love to hear cicades singing during hot nights in southern countries. Very good post!
