The Small Heath Coenonympha pamphilus is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. It is widespread in Eurasia and northwestern Africa, preferring drier habitats than other Coenonymphae. The larval host plants are grasses.

The butterfly usually has two, occasionally three, broods and is on the wing from April until early October. The insect overwinters in its larval stage.

The butterfly is seen here on Trifolium stellatum

Ciao Yannis, great macro of lovely little butterfly, fine details, wonderful colors, excellent clarity and splendid light, very well done, my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Hallo Yiannis
This is a striking macro jam packed with awesome details and I cannot decide which I like best, the flower or the butterfly as they are 2 stunning subjects in one frame. The flower is beautifully captured with the fine details well seen, especially the golden colour in between the rest of the colours. With the butterfly it is great to see the inner and outer sides of the Small Heath's wings and the difference between the two sides. Although the butterfly is your main subject, I must be honest and say that I like the flower the best as it has such delicate details. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Yiannis,
I love the overall composition of this image. The entire frame is filled with color and interesting subject material. This is certainly a beautiful butterfly and your lens has captured it perfectly in this eye catching photo. Great work!!

Hi Yiannis,
Great shot, pleasant composition, nice focus - probably the red cone is just slightly stronger than imho the optimal. It may be easily corrected with using the color adjustment item of your software. Otherwise a good photo.
Best regards, László

nice colors and good control of the light, good focus on the butterfly too, congrats Yiannis for the picture,
ciao, tino
