Hello,

I haven't had the possibility to make many photos on this winter due to several reasons, but a few weeks ago I had a trip in the snowy mountains. "Szeleta" cave (where many Paleolithic relics were found) was full of smaller and bigger statue-like ice formations. I'm sorry for adding the photo to "Landscapes" genre, "Mountains" category, but I didn't find any other which suit better to the image.

Photo: handheld, no flash. PP: white balance correction, selective sharpening after re-sizing.

Thanx for lookin'.

Hello Laszlo,
Very interesting ice sculpture you have presented us with. It kind of reminds me of a vulture sitting upright with a very long bill curved down to it's wing. Wonderful detail and illuminated nicely, allowing us to see the debris on the cave floor. I would love to have seen some of the artifacts that were found. Well done!!
Ron

Hello Laszlo,
Well, this is a miniature landscape with an ice mountain surrounded by hills. Very nice deviation and a very good unusual image. I suppose in reality they are stalachmites growing upwards from water dripping from the roof of the cave. Wonder if there were stalachtites formed on the roof. Very good indeed.

Hi Laszlo

well done

Hello MF Laszlo,
thanks for identifying the white fungi in my recent shot. I dont have any idea of it, so I really appreciate it.
The formation you posted are really exciting, as there are the big one and the smaller ones that resemble fungi.
Exciting composition with pebbles on the ground to give a pleasant view.

Regards,
Foozi

Hello Laszlo
I was prepared to say what interesting ice sculpture from a cave, but I remembered that we have also something simillar in Romania (in Scarisoara cave). I like the lightening of the ice. Very good sharpness and details, considering that the image was taken in a cave, with limited light.

My kind regards,
Oana

Hi Laszlo

How bizarre, very starnge indeed. Well worth a posting here, isn't nature wonderful. Great composition.

Hello Laszlo,

Looks like the King of Ice is residing over his (smaller) subjects..!
Frankly, at first I thought you found a frozen mushroom, but not so....
An artistic and creative piece of work!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello László,
A part from the excellent technical and artistic merits this photo shows that water droplets in caves do not only form stalactites of limestone, but also those of ice, something I never thought of!
Excellent use of ambient light to give a fine effect taken with excellent sharpness and DOF in a pleasing composition.
I don't agree with HB about the over-exposure!
Thanks for sharing this new experience that is well presented.
With kind regards,
Ivan

Hi Laszlo.
It is funny a bit that this subject is almost similar to your main subject (amazing fungi). I welcome use of natural lighting. Lights and shadows are very attractive and gives the image some charm. Details of the scene are great. Shadowed BG creates a nice diagonal structure of the shot. Very attractive and nice job. Thanks a lot.
Alexei.
